Estimation of the Interaction Between Groundwater and Surface Water Based on Flow Routing Using an Improved Nonlinear Muskingum-Cunge Method

The interaction between groundwater (GW) and surface water (SW) not only sustains runoff in dry seasons but also plays an important role river floods. Hydrological engineers proposed idea modelling flood routing using Muskingum-Cunge method, which exchange fully considered. This study proposes improved nonlinear model that considers lateral inflow; new method denoted as NMCL1 NMCL2 can simulate calculate In addition, both linear inflows (with channel inflows) are discussed, stable occur due considered for first time. A sensitivity analysis shows different parameters have effects on simulation results. Three cases documented literature selected compare four classical two updated methods.
